We are pleased to welcome Professor Philippe BOUCHARD, University Professor - Hospital Practitioner, Head of the Department of Periodontology and Director of the European Postgraduate Program in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. He is the author of about 100 international publications and more than 400 international and national communications. Professor Philippe BOUCHARD will discuss the theme of periodontal diseases on a daily basis with a medical approach in full disarray. It has been clearly demonstrated that a number of conditions are likely to aggravate the severity of periodontitis: diabetes, cancer or certain rare diseases such as Papillon-Lefevre syndrome or leukocyte adhesion deficit syndrome (THE D). More recently, interest has focused on the bi-directional nature of the periodontal disease / other diseases association, starting from the following working hypothesis: can periodontitis have a negative impact on the course of other pathologies, such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, obesity, etc ... Today, the association with cardiovascular diseases is clearly highlighted but the effect of periodontitis treatment on the occurrence cardiovascular events remains to be demonstrated.
